Project Description
Working off their successful riverfront experience, White Construction, along with their joint venture partner was selected to serve as the Construction Manager for the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority Public Terminal and Dock. This two story 22,500 SF glass and metal building will be constructed in four phases and includes a 425 wharf. The terminal and dock facility is located on the edge of the Detroit River and is part of the ongoing Riverwalk development.
The Public Terminal and Dock project posed intricate challenges for the construction team. Extremely tight site logistics, extensive marine repairs and poor soil conditions were some of the many elements the White Construction team overcame during the construction process. The team of professionals put their contracting experience to good use and successfully developed a construction plan and many valuable savings items to align the project to its tight budget constraints.
The facility is designed to accommodate cruise ships and passenger boats that travel down the Detroit River.
