With more than 22 years of construction industry experience, Donovan J. White is President and CEO of White Construction. He oversees the internal operations of the firm and construction support. Mr. White stays abreast of the latest in the industry and closely integrating with Estimating, Business Development, Marketing Support, Human Resources and Information Planning Systems. In addition, his responsibilities include pursuing new construction opportunities within the local, regional and national marketplace while maintaining relationships with existing clientele and other members of the A/E/C industry. His efforts are service driven, and he works diligently to meet the needs of new customers and establish White Construction’s presence in various market segments.
Some notable projects Mr. White has been involved in include the Little Caesar Arena in Detroit, a $873 Million 650,000 SF sports and entertainment multi-purpose arena, home of the Red Wings and Pistons; St. John Health System Providence Park Hospital in Novi, Michigan, a $160 Million 60,000 SF seven story, state of the art 200 bed hospital; and the St. John Detroit Riverview Medical Office Building in Riverview, Michigan, a $36 Million 17,000 SF Medical office addition.
Mr. White began his career with White Construction in 1997 under the tutelage of White Construction founder W. Bernard White. He has held numerous roles of increasing responsibility including Project Engineer, Operations Manager and Vice President of Construction. Donovan is responsible for the company’s vision, delivery of all construction services and customer satisfaction.
In addition to serving as the CEO of White Construction, Mr. White is a dedicated and active member of the community, committed to advancing sustainable construction and green building. He serves on several boards, including ECOWorks Detroit and the US Green Building Council – Detroit Regional Chapter. He was also recognized in 2018 by Crain’s Business Detroit 40 Under 40 list, which recognizes leaders who are shaping the business climate in Detroit and the surrounding areas.
Mr. White is a graduate of Lawrence Technology University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is LEED AP accredited and hold the 30-Hour-OSHA certification. He is also a member of AGC, Detroit; Construction Association of Michigan and the Michigan Minority Business Development Council.

W. BERNARD WHITE, P.E.
Bernard White, a native Detroiter, founded White Construction in May of 1989 after spending over 10 years in the construction industry with major construction firms. He obtained his B.S. in Construction Engineering at night while working full time at Lawrence Technological University in 1980, graduating Cum Laude. He received his State of Michigan Professional Engineer’s License in 1981. His efforts and sound leadership has resulted in White Construction being lauded as a premier construction management firm in Southeast Michigan.
